    1. Watchemoket Square Day @ Downtown East Providence
      9:00 am – 3:00 pm

      Join in this day-long celebration of Watchemoket Square’s past, present and future. A parade opens the event beginning at East Providence City Hall and there will also be walking tours, a car show, fun activities for kids and adults throughout the day. The annual church bazaar at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 81 Warren Ave., is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    2. CPR CLASS @ Memorial Baptist Church
      9:30 am – 11:30 am

      Memorial Baptist Church of Seekonk will be holding a CPR class on Saturday, October 13, at 9:30 a.m.

      This is unique opportunity for anyone interested in learning this life saving technique.The instructor is approved by the American Heart Association and is an individual who has benefited from having this technique used on him as well.

      The very modest fee of $10 will be charged for the training.  If an individual needs a certification card from the American Heart Association there will be a $5 charge also.

    3. Babysitting Training Class @ Weaver Memorial Library
      10:00 am – 2:30 pm

      Pediatric nursing students from the Community College of Rhode Island present a day of hands-on baby-sitting training. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to safely and responsibly care for children, toddlers and infants. A certificate will be awarded upon completion. For youth ages 11 to 15. Call to register.

    4. Slave and Rum Trade Walking Tour @ Linden Place
      10:00 am – 12:00 pm

      Linden Place Museum hosts a walking tour of Linden Place Mansion and downtown Bristol focused specifically on Bristol’s DeWolf Family and its involvement in the slave trade. Reservations are required.

    5. Local Children’s Author Meet and Greet @ Essex Library
      10:30 am – 11:30 am

      Meet and get your book signed by Linda Bouchard, author of “Sunny the Daycare Cat.”

    6. Seekonk Celebrates: Read! Presents Empire Falls Film Showing @ Seekonk Public Library
      11:00 am – 3:00 pm

      Richard Russo’s tribute to life in a small New England town comes to life in this amazing HBO miniseries presentation of Empire Falls!  Whether you have already read the book, or are trying to find out what all the fuss is about, join us for this community read event and help us celebrate Seekonk’s 200th anniversary!

      Miles Roby and company come to life as some of today’s best actors turn in the performances of a lifetime.  Ed Harris, Paul Newman, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, Danielle Pannabaker, Helen Hunt, and many others take center stage in this HBO production.  The story of a man looking for happiness for himself and his teen daughter amidst a group of friends, family, and enemies in a struggling New England town is sure to resonate with anyone who has lived in or loved the Northeast.

      We will provide a sampling of diner food and other surprises this evening.  If you have not read the book yet, this is your chance to see what everyone else is talking about and join the discussion!  197 minutes, not rated.

    7. Harvest Stroll @ Barrington Town Hall
      12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The Barrington Business Association hosts this family-friendly event featuring A Kids Cove behind town hall, pumpkin-carving, make-your-own-scarecrow, a food truck rally, a DJ and more. Beginning at 1 p.m., a hay ride will depart from town hall for a tour of the downtown business district. At each stop along the way, businesses will offer a variety of activities combining the day’s theme with their respective business.

    9. “Rehoboth Skies” Open House @ Carpenter Museum
      7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      The Astronomical Society of Southern New England (ASSNE) celebrates its annual open house in which families are invited to peer at celestial objects in a field full of astronomical telescopes. There will also be speakers and activities for kids. The evening will feature the unveiling of “The Replica of Sir William Herschel’s Telescope,” built by ASSNE members, and a demonstration of how Herschel used the instrument to discover the planet Uranus.

    10. Dinner Comedy Show @ Nonni’s Italian Restaurant
      8:00 pm – 10:00 pm

      The Comedy Factory’s Scott Higgins, David DiLorenzo and Alana Foden Susko perform.
