    1. Portsmouth Arts Guild offers 2-Day on-location Sketchbook Workshop Adventure in Travel Journaling with Don Getz @ Portsmouth Arts Guild
      8:00 am – 9:00 am

Don’t miss this opportunity!  Join nationally recognized, Ohio-based sketchbook artist Don Getz, Wednesday, October 24 and Thursday, October 25, from 9-4pm and learn how to sketch quickly and effectively in ink and watercolor.

Don Getz has always cherished the idea of touring America’s back roads and teaching along the way.  Join him in his travel journal workshop and be part of the experience!  We’ll be going to 2 locations each day, sketching with ink and watercolor.  Participants will learn how much they can sketch in a short period of time so they can use this process to sketch and paint while traveling or as part of a tour.  This is an exciting opportunity to learn to journal with a nationally known artist and prepare for your own travel adventures.  Class fee is $175 members/$200 non-members.  To register, contact Suzanne Lewis, Registrar, at 401-254-1668, or, workshops@PortsmouthArts.org.

Barrington Public Library’s film lecture series, “Gotta Sing! Gotta Dance!: The Evolution of Movie Musicals,” continues next week with a screening of the 1971 classic, an adaptation of the long-running Broadway musical based on stories by Sholom Aleichem. Your host, librarian and film enthusiast Doug Swiszcz, will offer pre-film commentary. The G-rated film runs for 181 minutes, with one intermission.

    3. Seekonk Celebrates: Read! Presents Professor Chef @ Seekonk Public Library
      6:30 pm – 7:45 pm

Seekonk Celebrates: Read! continues its celebration of Seekonk and Richard Russo’s novel Empire Falls with a cooking demonstration from Professor Chef!

Did you know that crepes can be both savory and sweet? Join Chef Phillip Griffin and his wife Malinda Coletta, owners of Professor Chef, as they demystify the crepe!  Learn how to make the perfect batter, how to swirl the pan to achieve the correct form and thickness of the crepe and how temperature affects the outcome.  In this class we will make appetizers, pastas, main dishes and desserts all using crepes!

Miles Roby knew how important it was to shake up his diner menu in Empire Falls.  Do the same for your family and see how this gourmet dish can be an easy weeknight supper!

We will have items to take home and more surprises this evening.  This event is free and open to the public thanks to a sponsorship from the Friends of the Seekonk Public Library.   Registration is required.  Call the library to reserve your space today at (508) 336-8230 or visit www.seekonkpl.org.
