    2. Discussion of “November 22, 1963″ @ Rogers Free Library
      3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      Rogers Free Library Adult Book Club will meet on Wednesday, November 22 to

      discuss Adam Braver’s book about the day JFK was assassinated.

      The meetings are in the Herreshoff Community Room at 3:00pm and 7:00pm.

      The author will join the discussion at 7:0opm.  Mr. Braver’s new book,

      “Misfit” about Marilyn Monroe will be available for purchase at the 7:00pm

      meeting.

    3. “A Swift Cause” Benefit @ St. Luke’s School

    4. Fahrenheit 451 @ Mt Hope High School
      7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

      Ray Bradbury’s 1951 novel transforms into an onstage drama about a dystopian

      society that exists to burn books in order to discontinue individual thoughts

      and social unrest. Firefighter, Guy Montag, whose job it is to burn books

      is presented with an alternative lifestyle and must choose between the life

      he knows or a life that allows him to read and have freedom of thought

      and expression. Carol Schlink, director.

    5. Red Eye Flight in Concert @ Sandywoods Center for the Arts
      7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      The local Americana band features strong vocal harmonies and fun arrangements.

    6. Annual Turkey Trot / Thanksgiving Raffle @ Bishop Hickey Knights of Columbus
      7:30 pm – 10:30 pm

    7. RWU Theatre Main Season Series II: “Antigone” @ Roger Williams University
      7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

      Robin Stone directs this classic Greek tragedy about Antigone, daughter of the deceased King Oedipus, who defies the new ruler of Thebes by attempting to have a respectable burial of her slain brother, though it may mean her death. This play explores issues of war, law, morality and class struggle. The performance takes place in the Roger Williams University Performing Arts Center, 1 Old Ferry Road, Bristol. Tickets are $10 for general admission; $5 for students and seniors.

    1. IQA Northeast Regional Quidditch Tournament @ Fort Adams State Park
      9:00 am – 5:00 pm

      The International Quidditch Association (IQA) is holding the Northeast Regional Quidditch Tournament at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI on November 17 and 18, 2012.  Teams from all over New England and New York will be converging on Newport to compete for Regional Championship and earn qualifying spots for the Quidditch World Cup.     2. Nature Sketching @ Audubon Environmental Education Center
      10:00 am – 2:00 pm

      Naturalist and artist Frances Topping will demonstrate how to use a journal/sketchbook to record and more fully engage with your surroundings and experiences. Review examples, get ideas on what and how to observe in the field and review techniques. Bring a lunch and plain notepaper or sketchbook and either a pencil, felt tip or waterproof pen. Optional items include a folding chair or something to sit on outdoors and a hand lens or magnifying glass. Students may use colored pencils or watercolor if they wish. Advance registration is required.
