      2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Four acclaimed choreographers will perform original works with the Roger Williams University Dance Theatre troupe in a presentation of Dance Theatre “In Concert” at Roger Williams University.
From Thursday, December 6 through Sunday, December 9, members of the public are invited to attend the season-ending production of the Roger Williams University Dance Theatre.
The renowned guest artists performing with RWU Dance Theatre are Sean Curran, Helen Simoneau, Kathy Gordon Smith and alumna Jane Leary. Dance students have been working with these guest artists on the upcoming performance, as well as rehearsing with faculty and student choreographers all semester for the production of Dance Theatre “In Concert.”
Sean Curran has taught extensively at the American Dance Festival, Bates Dance Festival, Harvard Summer Dance Center, and the Boston Conservatory of Music. He will perform “Here Now,” a performance created in memory of Kelly Wicke Davis, the founder of the Roger Williams University Dance Department and a close friend of Curran’s.
Canadian choreographer Helen Simoneau has performed her choreography at several international dance festivals and won numerous awards in North America and Europe. She will perform “Flight Distance II” with students she has been working with throughout the semester.
The choreography of Kathy Gordon Smith, faculty artist and choreographer at Rhode Island College, has been described as stylish and athletic. She has worked with students over several weeks on “Hello Only Ends in Goodbye,” which is set to an original composition by RWU Dance and Performance Studies accompanist, Michael DeQuattro.
RWU alumna Jane Leary’s piece, “How Sweet the Sound,” reflects her curiosity and exploration of the definition of “grace.” The sound score is a collaborative compilation of the dancers’ voices sharing their thoughts of what grace means to them. Leary lives in New York City and is performing and choreographing professionally.
In addition to works presented by these guest artists, there will also be works performed by RWU dance faculty members France Hunter and Gary Shore and original choreographed performances by dance majors Nicole DeWolfe, Kelsey Heineman and AshleyAnne Brown.
