An older woman driving a small sedan lost control of her car and rolled onto the sidewalk adjacent to the CVS on Metacom Avenue in Bristol Friday afternoon. The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m.
Witnesses could not explain how the car ended up where it did, squeezed between two support beams, on the sidewalk, parallel to the CVS building, but without hitting it.
The driver was removed from the car without injury. When the car was pushed away from one of the support beams, it rolled back onto four wheels and appeared to be only lightly damaged.
It was towed from the scene, and the CVS remained open. This is not the first time this CVS store had a brush with a vehicle. Several years ago, a driver lost control and plowed through the brick facade near the store's entryway.
