Ms. Mary D. (Ruggieri) Olson, age 70, of Terrace Drive, Bristol, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Providence and a lifelong Bristol resident, she was a daughter of the late Anthony Domenic Ruggieri and Dolores D. (Rego) Ruggieri Carmone.
Mary received her Master’s Degree from Bryant University in the 1980s and was a Systems Analyst – Oracle Programmer for the Sensata Corp., the former Texas Instruments in Attleboro, Mass., for many years before retiring in 2014.
A Communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Parish in Warren, she was involved with many of the programs and activities at the church. She loved traveling, cooking and was a volunteer for a number of years at Amos House in Providence.
She is survived by three children, Stephanie L. Austin of Bristol, Derek R. Olson (Liza) of Bristol and Scott A. Olson (Julie) of Tiverton; seven grandchildren, Sarina, Kelsey, Conner, Shane, Jacqueline, Ryan and Brody; two brothers, Mark A. Ruggieri (Beth) of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Stephen P. Ruggieri of Port Charlotte, Fla., and a step-sister, JoAnn Carter of Bristol.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Vincent Carmone, and a step-sister, Maria Negro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Bay Church, Main Street, Warren. Burial will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
