Instead of publishing meaningless puff-pieces and sales pitches from each candidate for local office, why can you not publish an honest and accurate resume or bio-sketch about each person running for office. It is interesting to know their views and aspirations, but far more relevant to see whether these candidates are actually qualified for public office, have any academic credentials, what is their employment record, their military service record, or have they ever been in bankruptcy and where does their funding support come from.
The East Bay Newspapers would do an essential service for the community by offering these basic facts about each candidate before the upcoming elections.
In a time of unrelenting social media and self-promoting public relations, it is easy to fabricate a fantasy background even in a closely knit small community such as ours. These made-up backgrounds quickly dissolve when a candidate has nothing substantial to offer.
