James A. “Poppy” DiSano, 89, of Mount Hope Avenue, Bristol, died Sunday, October 21, 2018 in the Crestwood Nursing and Convalescent Home, Warren. He was the husband of Carmella L. “Millie” DiSano, his wife of 65 years.

Born and raised in Warren, he was a son of the late Luigi and Concetta (Natale) DiSano. He served in the US Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. He worked for many years for the former Bristol Manufacturing Company, formerly in Bristol, and then as a Dietary worker for the Rhode Island Veterans' Home in Bristol for 10 years, retiring in 1992. He loved the time he worked at the Vets home, and was honored to be with his fellow veterans.

He was a communicant and active parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, running 10-10 clubs for the parish for a number of years. Devoted to his family, he loved spending time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren and spending the time working around his home and in his gardens.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Stephanie Blair (Paul) of Warren, Lisa A Grimo (Pasquale) and Gina C. DiSano, both of Bristol; four grandchildren, Christopher J. and Carl P. Grimo, Paul S. Blair Jr. and Kathryn E. Blair; and a sister, Betty Belmore of Warwick Neck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 27, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol.
