East Bay girls edge MSC 2-1
The East Bay girls hockey team beat Mount St. Charles, 2-1, in game one of the Division I Semifinals at Portsmouth Abbey Ice Arena on Friday night.

Senior defenseman Madelyn Cox scored in the first period to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Grace Flaherty assisted on the goal.

East Bay got on the scoreboard again in the third period when Maeve Harrington poked the puck into the net from the middle of a scrum of players. She was assisted by Flaherty and Cox.

Mounties forward Kaylee Doucette scored on a penalty shot after teammate Macee Salley was tripped up by Cox as she skated in on a breakaway.

Salley was hurt on the play and Doucette was called upon to take the penalty shot. Doucette beat Eagles goaltender Ellee Kopeckey as she cut across the net and slid the puck underneath the goalie to put the Mounties on the board 2-1.

Kopeckey and the Eagles defense held the Mounties the rest of the way. Kopecky stopped 12 shots for the Eagles. The two teams square off for game two on Saturday, 3/10, at Mount St. Charles Adelard Arena at 7:15 p.m.
