Bristol Police: Embezzlement, domestic assault, ‘sickly’ coyote and more

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following complaints between Aug. 14 and Aug. 20:

Monday, Aug. 14

Police dispersed a group of people who were setting a BBQ up under the Mt. Hope Bridge just after noon . The state Turnpike and Bridge Authority alerted the police, who sent the revelers on their way.

Officers responded to reports of a fight on Shaws Lane around 6:30 p.m. They brought one man to the Portsmouth side of the bridge to meet with Portsmouth Police. Reports did not indicate whether the man was arrested or if Portsmouth Police had a warrant out for him.

A resident on Surf Drive called police to report a car had driven in and out of the home’s driveway around 8:30 p.m. There was no problem; the driver lives in the neighborhood.

Tuesday, Aug. 15

A caller reported a man yelling in the hallway of a residential building on High Street around 3:30 a.m. The man left in a silver truck, which police soon caught up with. Rescue personnel were called to treat a rib injury possibly inflicted by another man. There was no arrest made.

Officers handled several town ordinance violations, including an area rug left in front of a home on Metacom Avenue; a couch on the road on Wood Street; a television on the sidewalk on Union Street; and a bureau on the sidewalk on Franklin Street.

A woman with pink hair was reportedly walking on the Mt. Hope Bridge at 11 a.m. Police were unable to find her. Pedestrians are not allowed on the bridge.

A man was reportedly laying on the hood of a car yelling at the female driver at Mt. Hope Avenue and Sampson Street around 3:30 p.m. There was no arrest made.

Police responded to a “dispute over phone book delivery” on Kingwood Road at 4 p.m. There was no arrest made.

Police responded to a noise complaint on Sousa Street at 10 p.m., determining there to be no problem. Officers are frequently called to Sousa Street for neighborhood disputes, most of which are unfounded.

Officers investigated threats made via text message to a resident on Robin Drive.

Wednesday, Aug. 16

A “sickly looking coyote” was spotted on Butterworth Avenue just after 8:30 a.m. The animal was gone when animal control arrived.

Kerri Lombardo, 42, of High Street in Bristol, was charged with felony domestic assault.

A caller reported seeing a child riding unrestrained in a car around 11:30 a.m. on Hope Street. The car was gone when police arrived.

A resident on Goulart Avenue reportedly threatened a neighbor with a broomstick about 1 p.m. over a car leaking oil.

Police filed a report but made no arrest.
A fight between two women at Union Street Beach turned out to be just an argument “over a dog’s toy.”

Maria Ursini, 52, of 40 Kingwood Road, Bristol, was charged with embezzlement, obtaining money under false pretenses, and submitting a false document to a public official. Ms. Ursini is director of the Bristol Senior Center.

Officers spotted a juvenile sitting on a bench on Thames Street at 11 p.m. The boy said he was waiting for his mother to finish her shift at a nearby business. Police confirmed the boy’s mother was working nearby.

Thursday, Aug. 17

A resident on Old Ferry Road called police to speak with an officer regarding deer the woods at 1:30 p.m.

A resident on Mt. Hope Avenue called police over “a suspicious odor” in the area. Reports did not indicate what the odor was or why a resident felt it was suspicious. No police action was necessary.

Friday, Aug. 18

A resident on Peck Avenue complained that people were on the vacant lot next door on Peck Avenue at midnight. There was no problem; the property owner was there.

Someone driving a black and silver Chevy Blazer was reportedly stealing recyclable material from roadside bins on Easterbrooks Avenue at 9 a.m. The truck was gone when officers arrived.

A toilet was reportedly dumped near a pond on Griswold Avenue.

A resident walking his dog while riding a skateboard on Kingwood Road at 10:30 a.m. reported that an older woman had her dog jump out of a car at him, causing him to fall off the skateboard and suffer minor injuries. Police filed a report.

A man was reportedly kicking the front door of a home on Richmond Street around 5 p.m. Rescue was dispatched for the intoxicated man.

A juvenile was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant for failure to appear in court on a previous charge of simple assault.

Police were called back to Sousa Street for another noise complaint, this time before 9:30 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 19

A resident on Franca Drive called police to complain about a neighbor’s trailers and unregistered car in the driveway. The trailers were both on private property, and there was no unregistered vehicle, officers report. There was no problem.

Tyler Banks, 19, of no known address, was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer after police were called to Vet’s Park on Wood Street for a disturbance just after 8 p.m.

Another unfounded noise complaint was called in from Sousa Street, this time before 9 p.m. Again, there was no noise when police arrived, nor were there fireworks being lit off when officers were called back to the neighborhood two hours later, and then a third time at 11:30 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 20

Sunday began the way Saturday ended … with an unfounded noise complaint on Sousa Street just after midnight. Officers were called back there again just a half-hour later, this time for reports of a person “banging on the windows” of a home. Again, it was a false accusation, according to police reports.
Officers removed an unwanted woman from a home on Holly Lane at 4:45 p.m.
