Bristol Police: Arrests for sexual assault, elderly assault and domestic assault

Bristol police officers made several arrests from May 6 to 13, including charges of domestic assault, sexual assault and assault on someone over the age of 60. Following is a log of police activity from those days.

Monday, May 6

A Hope Street resident called police to complain about a man clamming on his property at 2:13 p.m. A responding officer advised the man to stop what he was doing.

Tuesday, May 7

A Sousa Street resident complained of loud music at 9:42 p.m. A responding officer hear no noise upon arrival.

Wednesday, May 8

A caller complained about a dog running loose at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Chestnut Street at 4:12 p.m. The dog’s owner was issued a verbal warning.

Officers responded to the area of Hope Street and Sheffield Avenue after a report of a verbal argument involving four people in a red Nissan at 5:32 p.m.

A patrolman dispersed a small group from Lower Ferry Road at 7:54 p.m.

Justin R. Almedia, 22, of 807 Metacom Ave., Bristol, was charged with violation of a no-contact order.

An officer advised residents on DeWolf Avenue to turn down loud music at 10:26 p.m.

A 23-year-old was cited for consumption of an alcoholic beverage in public shortly before midnight near the corner of Hope and Oliver streets.

Thursday, May 9

Someone called police after seeing people near the town beach and sports facility with ladders and flashlights at 9:22 p.m. It turned out to be a film crew taking video with permission from town officials. At 9:56 p.m., another caller complained about the film crew being in the roadway with no lighting, creating  a dangerous situation. An officer advised them to stay clear of the road.

A Wood Street resident called at 9:54 p.m. to complain that a neighboring residence was in the beginning stages of a party. An officer responded but all was quiet.

A caller reported three men walking in the area of Wood and Cottage streets at 9:56 p.m.; one had a table leg in his hand. A responding officer did not find them.

A caller complained of loud music and people in a neighboring residence on State Street at 11:08 p.m. Officers responded and advised the responsible people to quiet down.

Friday, May 10

Someone reported a man walking in the middle of Metacom Avenue at 2:25 a.m. An officer found the man and called for rescue to assist.

A caller reported a cell phone missing from a desk at Colt Andrews School at 8:32 p.m. Officers were able to locate it a short time later.

Officers were called to Metacom Avenue for a reported fight in progress at 9:33 p.m. A suspect allegedly fled the scene in a silver car.

Officers were called to a family disturbance on Perry Street at 10:39 p.m. Suspects left before officers arrived.

Saturday, May 11

Officers responded to Court Street at 12:22 a.m. to investigate a reported fight. They called rescue to treat a victim with an eye laceration.

At 12:13 p.m., officers served a warrant and arrested Sandra M. Medeiros, 65, of East Providence, for domestic assault.

A caller reported concrete falling from a building at the corner of Thames and Constitution streets. Officers made numerous attempts to reach the building inspector and building contact person but were not successful.

An officer took a report from Roger Williams University after a caller reported being assaulted by a delivery driver after not tipping.

A caller complained of loud noise and loud talking on Wilson Street at 10:10 p.m.

Sunday, May 12

Two people were dispersed from the area of Hope and Thames streets at 12:12 a.m.

At 4 p.m., officers served a warrant and arrested Edward H. Lee, 57, of 6 Normand St., Bristol. He was charged at the station with simple assault, disorderly conduct, and assault on a person age 60 or older causing bodily harm. He was processed and released from the station.

Sergio M. Rodrigues, 38, of 13 Scott Lane, Bristol, was charged with second-degree sexual assault (forcible fondling) after being taking into custody on a warrant at his home at about 6 p.m. He was processed at the station and released.
