Bristol man facing child pornography charges

Posted

Keith Sartini, of 7 Dixon Ave., Bristol, was arrested in May and charged with possession of child pornography. Mr. Sartini remains free on bond while his case makes its way through criminal court. A Pre-Arraignment Conference on July 31 was continued to Nov. 26 at 9 a.m. Mr. Sartini has retained attorney John Bevilacqua.

The case against Mr. Sartini was launched back in February, when Detective John Nappi of the Bristol Police Department was reviewing a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), regarding “a subject” transferring and possessing child pornography.

Det. Nappi is currently assigned to the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is administered by the Rhode Island State Police and is part of a national network tracking, investigating, and prosecuting internet crimes against children.

In this case, NCMEC received a tip from security personnel at Dropbox, Inc., a file hosting service, that the dropbox account keithsartini@cox.net contained 121 files of suspected child pornography. Dropbox allows an account holder to store files that can then be viewed from any computer or cellular telephone with an internet connection.

According to the affidavit on file with Rhode Island’s Sixth District Court, Det. Nappi “viewed the files and confirmed the content of numerous files to be consistent with the definition of child pornography as defined in Rhode Island General Law 11-9-1.3 … these files depicted nude prepubescent/juvenile males and females engaged in graphic sexual acts.”

Dropbox, Inc. provided Det. Nappi with Internet Protocol (IP) logins consistent with Mr. Sartini’s Cox Communications account.

Det. Nappi requested a search warrant for Mr. Sartini’s property on May 7, and on the morning of May 8 a team of four officers searched the Sartini home at 7 Dixon Ave., seizing a laptop, several hard drives, three phones, and a dvd labeled “xxx.” Mr. Sartini was arrested, arraigned, and freed upon payment of a $5,000 surety bond under the condition that he not access internet depicting juveniles.
