Alfred J. McKenzie Jr., 69, of Roffee Street, Barrington, and formerly of Warren and Bristol, died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his wife of 49 years and family. He was the husband of Antonette “Toni” (Abenante) McKenzie.
Born in Providence and raised in Bristol, he was the son of the late Alfred J. and Isabel (Valante) McKenzie Sr. Al was the owner and operator of the former Creative Floor Covering in Warren for 39 years, retiring in 2009. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bristol and enjoyed crafting sand art and novelties with his wife Toni for area craft fairs and festivals.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Deborah A. Rainey (David) and Valarie A. DeCosta (Robert), both of Barrington; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Frank, Shawn, Justin, Kayla, Melissa and Jennifer; four great-grandchildren, Frank Jr., Tenna, Isabella and Radyn; five siblings, Kenneth J. McKenzie Sr. (Ursulina) of Barrington, Rita A. McKenzie of Riverside, Steven A. McKenzie Sr. (Lorrie) of New Port Richey, FL, Raymond J. McKenzie, Sr. (Cindy) of Danielsville, GA and Patricia A. Brum (Gilbert Sr.) of Bristol. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Silvinia Ann McKenzie.
Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Friday, August 3, at 9 a.m., with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Thursday, August 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. Kindly omit flowers.
