Motorists frustrated with the sad state of Water Street will get what they've been waiting for next week — a re-pave of the busy road in North Warren. The entire job will take a month or more, but a significant portion will be complete by next Friday.
Warren DPW Chief Jan Malik said Friday that crews will start milling down the rough road surface Monday, leaving an unfinished — but flat — surface in its place. Next, a binder coat of asphalt will be applied. The binder coat will be left in place for a month or so while crews check for gas leaks and other issues. If all goes well a final coat will be applied in late July or early August.
The hope is to have the preliminary milling and re-paving finished by Friday, June 29.
Police said this Friday that there will be no parking along Water Street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. all next week. Businesses will be open and local traffic will be allowed, but police cautioned that commuters should take another route.
