Lucille R. Wooding, 81, of 9 Manor Road, Barrington, died peacefully at Grace Barker Nursing Center in Warren, on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018.

She was the beloved wife of Benjamin E. Wooding.

Born in Winthrop, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Catherine (Muratore) Rogers and the sister of the late Ernest E. Rogers Jr.

She lived in Barrington for 56 years.

Lucille graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in French from Wheaton College (Norton, Mass.) in 1957.

She earned her Master's degree in teaching and French from Rhode Island College in May of 1970.

Her career being primarily in education, she taught French and German at Barrington High School in the 1960's and subsequently was a French and German professor at Barrington College in the 1970's.

After her teaching career, she worked in administration for higher education at Barrington College, Rhode Island School of Design and at Eastern Connecticut State University.

Her passions included: reading, music (piano), travel, French language and culture, and fitness (mostly running).

Lucille and Ben were long-time members of the Barrington YMCA (Bayside Family YMCA). They were seen for years (especially early mornings!) jogging around Barrington together or with groups of friends. In 2011, Lucille was very proud to receive the Bayside Family YMCA "Anne Toll Spirit Award" in honor of her long time affiliation with the Y.

Besides her husband of 60 years, she is survived by a daughter, Catherine (Wooding) Kinsella of Guilford, Conn., and 3 grandchildren: Carrie Kinsella of New Orleans, La.; Christina Kinsella of Herndon, Va., and Patrick Kinsella of Guilford, Conn.

Her funeral was held on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at St. Luke's Church in West Barrington.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

There will be a private burial at a later date in Wallingford, Conn.
