Letter: The Whitehouse

News Alert: R.I. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, exuding “extreme white male privilege” during his 5-minute  grilling of Judge Kavanagh, ends up in a dereliction of duty due to a corresponding lack of “toxic masculinity” (and common sense).

‘Heavens to Murgatroyd’, is this is the best R.I has to offer? This guy, a sitting U.S. Senator on live TV spends his allotment of time asking questions about Judge Kavanagh’s high school yearbook? Really? Methinks my three year old grandson Harlan might have had a better outing. Really! His performance was an embarrassment.

And this from a former R.I. State Attorney General.

BTW, I’m quite certain that many old white males (we’re easy targets these days), who drank beer, partied on weekends, and played team sports in high school with the accompanying locker room banter also have a few regrets. Including this writer. Who doesn’t? Now, to be inclusive, I have many female friends of the same vintage who also share similar cringe worthy moments as the Judge from their teenage years. Just check out any BHS yearbook from the 1960’s to the 1980’s and you might agree they have the same “look and feel” as Georgetown Prep’s.

So, my advice to Sheldon and his toadies? Chillax, cast your nay vote for the judge and go sip your Chardonnay and eat your foie gras. Judge Kavanagh will be Justice Kavanagh in the blink of an eye.

His next “Bud” will be for you.
