To the editor:

Tax season has come to us again. Tax money is used for the upkeep and the services in towns, cities and states throughout our country. This money comes out of the pockets of all the taxpayers. This is something that we should think about more intensely then we sometimes do when we ask for things over and above what is traditionally paid for and met in our rising quarterly payments.  

Surpluses should not be thought of as windfalls to be spent immediately. Possibly those surpluses might be used to lessen the town's tax burden, or be used for real immediate or emergency needs that have arisen. The important thing is to allow every taxpayer in a town, a city, and a state to decide how tax money collected over and above the normal upkeep and services should be used or not.

The hope is for the better use of tax money that will be approved by all taxpayers.
