The Barrington High School baseball team traveled to Prout's scenic home field to take on the Crusaders on Friday, and they controlled the game from the beginning, coming away with a 9-4 victory.

The Barrington High School baseball team traveled to Prout's scenic home field to take on the Crusaders on Friday, and they controlled the game from the beginning, coming away with a 9-4 victory.

Nick Peecher got the start for the Eagles and pitched 4 innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 earned runs with 2 strikeouts to earn the win. Cabot Maher came in for the final 3 innings and recorded 8 strikeouts to earn the save.

The Eagles offense tallied 15 hits. The offense was led by Josh Leadem with 3 hits including a double, George Connelly with 2 hits and 2 rbi, Matt Macaluso with a double and 2 rbi's, Liam McManus with 2 hits and an rbi, Andy Marra with a mammoth homerun and rbi, Matt Zeleznik with a hit and sacrifice and 2 rbi, Matt Culligan with a single, Mike Pfeffer with a single, Maher with a double, Henry Johnson with a single, and Ben Goodridge with a single.

Barrington tied Exeter-West Greenwich Knights 6-6 last Wednesday. An hour and a half delay led to darkness and the game was called after 7 innings.

The highlight of the day was the Eagles' offense as Cabot Maher homered to center field onto County Road, and Andy Marra followed it up with and inside-the-park homerun. The back-to-back homers tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the third, answering a home run by the visitors.

Andrew Conaty pitched 5 and 2/3 innings of relief, giving up 2 earned runs and striking out 7 for the home team.

The Eagles offense had 8 hits on the day led by Maher with 2 hits including the homerun and rbi, Conaty with 2 hits, 3 steals and an rbi, Mike Pfeffer with 2 hits, Josh Leadem with a triple and 2 rbi, and Marra with the homerun and rbi.

Barrington lost to Ponaganset 3-2 on Tuesday, May 6. Cabot Maher and Andrew Conaty shared pitching duties and limited Ponaganset to just three hits. The Eagles held a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth, when Ponaganset rallied for three runs. 

Barrington's record is 7-2-1.
