A single car accident claimed the life of a 24-year-old Barrington resident on Monday night. 

Maximillian Bean was driving south on New Meadow Road at about 11:20 p.m. when his vehicle struck a flag pole and a utility pole and then careened into the Barrington River. Mr. Bean passed away, despite the efforts of first responders to resuscitate him.

On Tuesday morning, Max's father, longtime Barrington resident Scott Bean, said his son had many friends and spent much of his time with them. 

"He loved snowboarding, loved life, and he had a gazillion friends," said Scott Bean. "Many of them have been at the house this morning.

"Everyone is just in shock."

Scott said his son graduated from Barrington High School in 2012 and was currently working as a driver for UPS, delivering to homes and businesses in the East Bay. 

"He was just about to go on a trip with a childhood friend to San Diego," said Scott, adding that his son would have turned 25 on May 6.

"He was always one of those people who burned too bright," he said. 

In his obituary, the family wrote about Max: "...he collected many close friends and was known for his easy smile and 'chillability.' He loved a good time. If it is possible to have lived a full life in under 25 years, Max did it. If he didn’t love every minute of his short life, he certainly had highlights every day."

Scott wanted to thank the first responders who tried to resuscitate his son following the accident, and the doctors at the hospital. 

"Everybody, the entire team was extraordinarily professional and kind," he said. "I can't thank them enough for everything."

Scott said there will be a celebration of Maximillian's life at a later date.
