The Barrington Middle School boys basketball team lost to Cranston's Park View Middle School 47-42 in the state championship game on Friday night, Feb. 8.
The Eagles trailed early in the game, 12-4, but battled back to take a 19-16 lead into halftime. Barrington grew its lead to 33-25 with 10 minutes remaining and was ahead 39-36 with four minutes left to play. But Park View, which was undefeated at 15-0 this season, pulled out the victory against Barrington. The Eagles had just two losses all year.
Matt Raffa played well for Barrington and led the team in scoring with 20 points. Raffa knocked down four 3-pointers and was 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Sean Bonneau added nine points for the Eagles and Jake Ignall finished with eight.
