The Barrington High School football team broke into the win column after defeating Central High School 21-20 in overtime on Friday night, Sept. 21.

The Eagles opened the scoring in the first quarter, when quarterback Nick Roach ran for a 10-yard touchdown. Chase White kicked the extra point and Barrington held a 7-0 lead.

That lead held until the third quarter when Central scored twice and built a 14-7 advantage. But the Eagles battled back and knotted the score in the fourth quarter when Asher Kranowitz scored from five yards out. White kicked the point-after conversion.

The game remained tied through regulation, and Barrington opened the overtime period on offense. On its first play from scrimmage, Will Sanchez broke free for a 10-yard touchdown run. White added the extra point and gave Barrington a 21-14 lead.

The Knights offense scored a touchdown and went for the two-point conversion, but a pass into the end zone fell incomplete.

Barrington's record is 1-1 in Division I-B.

The Eagles are scheduled to play their first home game on Friday night, Sept. 28. Barrington will host South Kingstown. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Freshman Kate Robertson won her match at number one singles, 6-3, 7-5, and the Eagles' third doubles team of Alison Kostas and Julia Stanchina won 7-6 (7-1), 6-2.
