Barrington volleyball advances to Division I semifinals
Eagles defeat Cranston East, 3-1, in quarterfinal match
The Barrington High School girls volleyball team punched its ticket to the Division I semifinals with a 3-1 victory over Cranston East in the quarterfinals on Thursday night, Nov. 8.
Playing at home, Barrington won, 25-15, 25-14, 22-25, and 25-20.
Senior Maile Somera led the Eagles with 25 kills, five aces, 17 digs and three blocks, while her teammate Casey Lambert tallied 39 assists. Lambert also had nine digs in the victory.
With the win, Barrington advances to a Division I semifinal showdown against LaSalle, which defeated Coventry 3-0 in a quarterfinal match.
The semifinal match will be played at East Greenwich High School on Wednesday, Nov. 14. The time of the match has not yet been released.
Last year, Barrington reached the Division I semifinals but lost 3-2 against Coventry. In 2016, the Eagles won the Division I state championship.
Barrington finished this year's regular season with a 14-2 record and entered the playoffs as the number two seed.
