Providence College recently held its 32nd annual computer programming contest, and Barrington High School students took home first place.

The Barrington team of juniors Daniel Sheinberg and Shiyuan Huang and seniors Conor McGartoll and Eliot Laidlaw finished ahead of competitors from 15 other schools. Barrington High School is coached by Mario Correia.

The contest is sponsored by Providence College’s student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery and the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.

PC’s computer programming contest requires teams to work as one unit to complete a minimum of eight problems. The team solving the highest number of problems wins and in the case of a tie, the team taking the least accumulated time wins.
