Barrington schools continue to rack up awards.

It was announced on Tuesday evening, April 25, that U.S. News and World Report selected Barrington High School as a "gold medal school" in its recent national public high school rankings.

Check out the full high school rankings.

The U.S. News and World Report rankings include data on more more than 28,496 public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Barrington High School was ranked 417th in the nation and second in the state. Classical High School was ranked 353 in the nation. Portsmouth was ranked third in the state (591 in the nation), Narragansett was fourth (935 in the nation), and Times2 Academy was fifth (1,201 in the nation).

Only Classical and Barrington earned gold medals.

"Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates, how disadvantaged students performed at or better than the state average and how well they prepare students for college," stated a press release from Barrington schools.

In addition to the gold medal, Barrington High School also earned a stellar grade in STEM — 110th nationally. In fact, Barrington High School was the only school in the state to be selected for its Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

"To determine the top science, technology, engineering and math schools, U.S. News looked at the top 500 public schools from our latest Best High Schools rankings, and then evaluated their students' participation and success in Advanced Placement science and math tests."
