Beth Wang won a three-set thriller in the third singles match, 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-2, and led Barrington to a 4-3 victory over Moses Brown on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Lauren Jay also won her match at fourth singles, and the doubles teams of Hope Vetromile and Eve Stockwell, and Hailey Walter and Meghan McDermott captured victories. 

The win over Moses Brown pushed Barrington's record to 4-2 in Division I. 

Girls volleyball 

The Barrington High School girls volleyball team ran its record to 7-1 after defeating LaSalle, South Kingstown and East Providence recently. 

On Tuesday, Sept. 25, Barrington won 3-0 over LaSalle (25-23, 26-24, 25-20). Casey Lambert played well for the Eagles, finishing with 31 assists, six digs and two aces, while Grace Angelini had eight kills. 

Maile Somera played a key role in Barrington's 3-2 win over South Kingstown (13-25, 28-26, 20-25, 25-20, 15-13) on Friday, Sept. 28. Somera had 32 kills and 24 digs while Lambert tallied 38 assists and 10 digs. 

Against East Providence on Monday, Barrington was led by Angelini's nine kills and five digs and Gabby Schirber's three kills and three digs. Barrington won 26-24, 25-27, 25-16 and 25-23.

Boys cross country

The Eagles defeated Portsmouth (24-33), Tolman (15-50) and Shea (15-50) in a regular season meet on Monday, Oct. 1 at Slater Park in Pawtucket. 

Brendan Fay was the Eagles' top finisher and second overall, crossing the line in 15:58, while Holden Vaughan was third overall with a time of 16:07. Brian Donahue finished fourth overall with a time of 16:21 and Jamie Gunness was sixth with a time of 16:35. Kaden Voeller was ninth and Calvin Hennessey finished 10th. 

Barrington, which had lost to St. Raphaels Academy and LaSalle earlier this year, had to defeat Portsmouth in order to qualify for the state championship meet. 

"That was a big deal," said BHS Coach Mike Katz. "We were really focused."

Runners from both the boys and girls teams in Barrington will travel to Thetford, Vt., for the Woods Trail Run on Saturday. 

Girls cross country

Barrington had eight out of the top 10 finishers in a meet at Slater Park on Monday, Oct. 1, and cruised to wins over Portsmouth (19-44), Tolman (15-50) and Shea (15-50).

Caroline Livingston was the fastest overall finisher with a time of 17:27. Stephanie Chun finished third (18:59), followed by Lily Sefranek in fourth (19:14), Fiona Ainsworth in fifth (19:29), Tess Gagliano in sixth (19:33), Lindsay Turgeon in seventh (19:35), Margaret Nozaki in eighth (19:41) and Reilly Curran in ninth (19:49).
