Three girls sign up for Cub Scout Pack 1 Nayatt

Posted

For the first time ever, three girls have signed up as members of Cub Scout Pack 1 Nayatt.

The signups are part of a new "Family Scouting" initiative, which features girls in Cub Scout packs. The three girls are Liliana Colacchio, and Thalia and Daylen Baillie. The signups were held on Tuesday night, Sept. 11.

"We're really excited to be able to bring the scouting experience to girls," said Giovanni Cicione, a scout leader in Barrington. "Each of my three boys have been involved but my oldest child (Marisa) never had the opportunity and I always thought that was a shame. Boy Scouts of America offers something that is unique, and now it's open to everyone."

Liliana got a bit of a head-start with her scouting experience, as she has been doing scouting activities for the last three years with her brother, Max, who is a Weblo I.

"She’s excited to have her own den and be an official part of our pack," said Liliana's mother, Dara. "She said she is excited to earn badges too. She has already been on 7 campouts starting when she was 4. She made her first Pinewood Derby car last year."
