Alan G. Cameron, 76, of Carlisle, Mass., passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017. His family was with him when he died from cardiac and cancer complications.

He grew up in Pawtucket and Barrington and was a 1958 BHS graduate. He earned his undergraduate (1962) and master's degree (1963) in electrical engineering at MIT, and subsequently served in the U.S. Navy. He had a long career as an electrical engineer, working at MITRE Corporation, Lincoln Laboratory, Teledyne Brown and other defense contractors.

Alan lived in Carlisle, Mass. for 50 years during which time he served as a selectman, served on the board of assessors, and volunteered for many other boards and organizations in town. This year he received Carlisle's Honored Citizen Award.

Alan was the son of the late David and Edith Cameron. His parents were born in Scotland and moved to the USA as children. Alan was proud of his Scottish heritage and attended gatherings of the Cameron Clan at the ancestral home, Achnacarry near Fort William, Scotland.

He was the husband of the late Meredith Eliot Cameron. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth A. Cameron and her son Jack of Carlisle, his daughter Heather Cameron (Michael Paranzino) and their children Cameron, Emily and Alec of Bethesda, Md. He leaves his sister Anne Stillings (Robert) and his niece Sara DeBoth (Steven) and their children Iain and Everett, all of Barrington. He also leaves his fiancee, Dianne (Marcotte) McAulay of South Kingstown and formerly of Belton Circle, Barrington.

A memorial service will be held at the First Religious Society of Carlisle (Unitarian-Universalist), Carlisle, Mass. at a date to be determined.
