In John Ford’s 1956 film starring John Wayne, a former Confederate soldier returns to his brother’s frontier cabin three years after the end of the Civil War with a bitter hatred of Indians, trusting no one but himself. John Wayne remarkably portrays a man incapable of answering to anyone but himself, who ultimately has more in common with his despised Indians than with his more ‘civilized’ brethren. The film screening is free and open to the public; it will take place in RWU’s Global Heritage Hall Building, Room G01.
